For the purpose of this editorial, “mass immigration” will be defined as a million or more legal permanent immigrants coming into the USA per year.

With our severe water
problems in many parts of the American West, with our society sprawling over
4000 acres of our countryside daily,[1]and sprawling over 40 acres of farm and ranch land per hour,<span face=""calibri" , sans-serif" style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: xx-small;">[2]and with our population using approximately 20% to 25% of many of the world’s most critical resources while only comprising under 5% of the world’s population,<span face=""calibri" , sans-serif" style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: xx-small;">[3]it’s definitely time to slow down population growth in the USA. Mass immigration is the main driver of that
population growth in the USA and so that means that immigration needs to be decreased
to something near the average of historic immigration levels between 1915 and 1988<span face=""calibri" , sans-serif" style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: xx-small;">[4]of well under one million legal
immigrants per year, on the order of 500,000 or less per year.

If we continue on our current
course of one million or more legal immigrants per year, the U.S. population
will almost certainly be over ½ billion people by the year 2100, and if the
proponents of increasing mass immigration and the promoters of so-called “Comprehensive
Immigration Bills” have their way, the U.S. population could be a billion or more by 2100 - that’s within the
lifetimes of today’s toddlers.<span face=""calibri" , sans-serif" style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: xx-small;">[5] Can you imagine California, for example,
having 3 to 4 times it’s current population of approximately 40 million people?
- ridiculous! Can you imagine New York
City with 4 times as many people as it’s current population of 8.6 million? - absurd! If we change our immigration levels to well
under 1 million per year we can keep our population from going over ½
billion for many decades and buy time to develop policies to always keep it
under that level.

All recent Gallup Polls show
that a large majority of Americans do not want immigration levels increased,<span face=""calibri" , sans-serif" style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: xx-small;">[6]]<span face=""calibri" , sans-serif" style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: xx-small;">[7]yet the mass immigration lobbies along with an elite minority of the Democratic Party and along with the Republican dominated Chamber of Commerce all continue to advocate and lobby for massive
increases in immigration that will push U.S. population towards one billion
people at the turn of the century. An extreme example of how those individuals
think can be seen in this wacky article promoting massive immigration
increases that would bring the U.S. population to 1.6 billion by 2100, written by an East Coast elite on a Yale University website: “US Could Be World’s Most Populous Country"<span face=""calibri" , sans-serif" style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: xx-small;">[8](Has the author of the Yale article ever even travelled to the arid American
West?). It’s time for Americans to take
control of this issue and make it clear to the Federal Government that the majority of Americans do not want immigration levels increased.

As far as the DACA and other “Pathway to
Citizenship” people are concerned, we can pass legislation to give every one of
them a green card and pathway to citizenship while simultaneously passing, in the same legislation, a national, universal, mandatory,
strictly enforced E-Verify system for all employers so that employers will be
financially punished for hiring future undocumented workers and so that we can avoid ever again getting into this situation of having so many undocumented people with
insecure status in the USA. Legislation should also be included to prevent extended-family immigration (cousins, aunts, uncles, etc) so that as the DACA and other "Pathway to Citizenship" people become citizens it will be harder for them to bring in their extended (non-immediate) family members.

Remember, no environmental problem in America is improved by increasing
the U.S. population, and mass immigration is now the main driver of population
growth in the USA. For now, let’s
at the very least stop the elites of the Democratic and Republican Parties from
massively increasing immigration levels into the USA, and it’s time to start
contemplating a large decrease in immigration to the historic levels previously
mentioned in this editorial, so that we can tackle our country’s major environmental problems before they become insurmountable.
Editor's Update, October 1, 2017: Readers of the above post keep bringing up the issue of world population growth, which is not covered in the post. It's been established over and over again that in countries where women have something approaching equal rights, population growth tends to rapidly decrease and ceases to be a problem, and so the answer to world overpopulation is universal women's rights, emancipation and liberation. Current projections are that world population growth will stop at a level somewhere between 9 and 12 billion sometime within the next 100 to 150 years. Full granting of women's rights worldwide in the immediate future will help stop world population growth much sooner rather than later.

As you can see from the Census Bureau's Population Clock (U.S. and World Population Clock) the U.S. population is approaching an official population of 320 million people. Now take a look at the U.S. Census Bureau's own population projection chart (pdf file or txt file) which the Obama Administration is hiding deep within the U.S. Census Bureau's website - I can't even find it anymore in the Census Bureau website, but I luckily made my own copies quite a while ago. You can see that the current U.S. population is between the "highest series" and "middle series" projections. And when you add in the very moderate estimate of another 10 million unknown and uncounted U.S. residents, this will put the real U.S. population at around 330 million which puts us right on the "highest series" trend line leading to well over 1 billion people by 2100.

Obviously the Obama Administration and the promoters of mass immigration know that when the American people see the real population projections, the majority of Americans will be horrified and will demand a stop to any further promotion of mass immigration into the U.S. This is why the Administration and the mass immigration lobby never mention the population projections for their schemes to increase immigration. They also never mention that there is no way they can guarantee that there will be enough resources to provide all of these millions of new citizens (along with the citizens already here) a good middle class all-American life. They know that the truth will be unacceptable to the vast majority of the electorate.

Many sustainability experts, (such as Malcomb Potts and Alan Weisman) believe that the long-term sustainable population level of the U.S. is roughly around 150 million people, and yet the elite of both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are pushing for higher immigration levels that will push us to well over one-half billion people and possibly up to over a billion people by early in the next century. This is absolutely ridiculous when you consider that many scientists and other experts believe that the long-term sustainable human population for the entire Earth is roughly 1.5 to 2 billion people.

The promoters of mass immigration would like to at least double legal immigration levels to around 2 million people per year. But what they really want are levels as high as 5 or even 10 million people per year which will easily push us towards one billion people in less than a century, within the lifetime of many of today's toddlers.

THE SOLUTION: By decreasing our future yearly immigration to 500,000 people or less per year, we have a chance of peaking our population under 1/2 billion people and then reducing the U.S. population to a more sustainable level within the next several decades. This can be achieved with a pathway to citizenship for the people already in the USA and it can be achieved with the unification of people living outside of the U.S. with their immediate families in the U.S. Democrats for Reasonable and Responsible Immigration provides a plan to achieve this goal. It's time for the second great immigration wave to the USA to come to an end.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7060859266118076175.post-4229395769010210322014-07-30T15:34:00.001-07:002023-03-12T10:34:56.490-07:00New Environmental Directory Covering Washington StateEarthDirectory's newest directory is The Directory of Environmental Organizations and Environmental Government Agencies in Washington. S. Environmental Leaders that Support the Senate's Mass Immigration Bill Should Resign or Be Fired - DRRI Part 12 SOME QUESTIONS FOR AMERICAN ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERS: How can you claim to be environmentalists and conservationists, supporters of habitat preservation, new wilderness areas, preserving farmland, conserving natural resources and stopping urban sprawl, and yet also support an immigration bill that definitely puts the USA's population on the trend line towards more than doubling, possibly tripling or even quadrupling in the next several decades or so? How can you say that you support a sustainable USA while simultaneously supporting a bill that will massively increase the population of one of the most materialistically aggressive, resource-devouring nations in the world?

The answer is that these environmental leaders are hypocrites trying to have the best of both worlds and trying to make everybody happy in order to increase membership in their organizations. They want to come across as great environmentalists and conservationists while simultaneously putting out the standard politically correct message that millions of people are welcome to immigrate yearly to the USA - American environmental leaders certainly don't want to be accused of being "against people" by not supporting mass immigration!

SORRY, YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS! You environmental leaders that support the mass immigration bill are simply a bunch of glorified public relations people. You can either be real environmentalists and conservationists or you can be lobbyists for the mass immigration bill, but you can't be both. Why in heaven's name would you support a bill that launches the USA in the direction of having a population similar to that of India or China? Are you crazy? Please, do the decent thing and resign from your leadership positions in the Environmental Movement, or otherwise you should be fired. IT'S DEFINITELY TIME FOR YOU TO GO!
We do not want your drilling activities shaking our homes. We do not want your large, ugly, noisy, drilling sites despoiling our land and our view. We do not want to see your flares around our countryside. We do not want the stinky air that comes with your business. We do not want the road damage that you'll cause to our current roads and highways and we do not want the massive building of new dirt roads over our countryside to your drilling sites. We do not want the huge increase in traffic that comes with your industry. We do not want the uncontrolled growth and increased crime that comes with your industry. We do not want the increased risk of earthquakes that comes with your industry. We do not want the increase in air, land and water pollution that your industry inevitably brings.

We do not appreciate the fact that your industry leaks large amounts of methane (a potent greenhouse gas) into the atmosphere. We do not appreciate the fact that your industry will be using massive amounts of our wonderful, clean water. We do not appreciate the disrespect for the land that your industry exhibits. We do not appreciate the way that you've rigged the Montana government completely in your favor. We do not appreciate the propaganda of your PR people while you simultaneously treat the Beartooth Front like a Third World country in the 1950's that you can come into and plunder as you please.
The people of the Beartooth Front are not the generally compliant citizens of the oil fields in Texas. The people of the Beartooth Front are not the overwhelmed people of the Bakken. The people of the Beartooth Front are independent, thoughtful Montanans and people from all over the country and the world who love the Front. Frackers, you're dealing with the same people that recently denied a permit for an ugly cell phone tower that would mar the view near Roscoe. Do you think that those people are going to calmly and idly stand by while you build hundreds, possibly thousands of your ugly, dirty, smelly drilling rigs on the Front?

If you persist in trying to establish your industry on the Beartooth Front, we have many eyes that will watch you like eagles and hawks from all angles, including from the air. We will monitor your every move and when you make mistakes we will officially record and report them to the media and the proper authorities. We will sue you any chance we get. We will work tirelessly to change the laws so that they are no longer rigged in your favor. We will do our very best to legally make it difficult and unpleasant for you to expand your industry on the Beartooth Front. We are willing to spend whatever time and money it takes to keep your industry from expanding onto the Front. We will use all legal means to keep large-scale fracking out of the Front.

We do not appreciate the fact that your industry quietly lobbies the USA government to allow you to sell your fossil fuel all over the world while meanwhile you tell us that you need to drill on our land to help bring about energy independence for the USA. Obviously your drilling on the Front is not critical to the energy security of our country.

The cost of renewable energy is decreasing rapidly and within the next few decades the marketplace will put the fracking industry into the dustbin of history. Yet in this brief period of time when fracking is economically viable you want to despoil the Beartooth Front so that you can get richer. The Front has a much greater intrinsic and long-term economic value as the relatively pristine area that it is, rather than as a fracking sacrifice zone. Why don't you save yourself a lot of hassle and stop the expansion of your industry onto the Beartooth Front? Why don't you show some basic human decency and leave us alone? You really are messing with the wrong people.
The greed of the frackers is insatiable. Now they want to frack in the Red Lodge Montana region, a stunningly beautiful ranching and tourism area along the front range of the Beartooth Mountains.

The rolling prairie runs into the mountains at the town of Red Lodge with the tallest mountains of Montana dynamically rising in the distance, and when you take the very scenic ride on the Beartooth Highway from Red Lodge over the Beartooth Mountains, you end up at the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park! Besides that, the region has some of the best trout streams in the world. The Red Lodge area along with the rest of the Beartooth Front is a very special region and should be entirely off-limits to fracking.

To sign the petition and to donate to the campaign to defeat fracking along the Beartooth Front please click HERE. And of course, contact all of the relevant politicians that you can think of and tell them "No to fracking on the Beartooth Front!" Let's show all of the frackers around the world that there are some places where they just won't be allowed to frack.
Originally Americans thought that it would be a bill to provide a fair "Pathway to Citizenship" for the estimated 12 million undocumented workers in the USA while simultaneously fixing our broken immigration system. Instead it's turned into a grab bag of wish lists for the mass immigration lobby with its amazing variety of proponents - apparently they think that this is their big chance to cram all of their misguided proposals through and to give out American citizenships like Halloween candy.

Many Republicans, and some Democrats, support the immigration bill because they want to import both high-skilled and so called low-skilled workers rather then pay for training American citizens for the high-skilled jobs and paying a decent wage to American citizens for doing the so called low-skilled work. Meanwhile, the "guilty liberal" faction of the Democratic Party supports an open borders policy basically because they feel guilty for American dominance of the late 20th century and for what they perceive as America's historic misdeeds in the world and they believe that letting in the people of the world is a way of making up for the USA's past transgressions. Another faction of the Democratic Party is the mass immigration faction which, while not supporting completely open borders, supports mass immigration (millions of permanent immigrants per year) for a variety of reasons including those listed above. All of these factions are misguided.

Reliable data indicates that within the next ten years the immigration bill in its current form could result in as many as 50 million permanent and "temporary" immigrants, which would include approximately 34 million permanent residents & citizens. Add this to the nearly 1.5 million natural yearly population increase already existing in the USA and you come up with a yearly population increase of somewhere around 4 to 5 million per year. This puts us clearly on the path to over 1 billion people in the USA by the year 2100. Yes, that's within the lifetime of today's toddlers. See the Census Bureau's own population projections [pdf] or [txt], and when you figure in that we probably already have well over 320 million people when you include the millions of people who intentionally and unintentionally avoided being counted in the most recent census, you'll see that the high immigration levels proposed in the immigration law will put us right on the highest of the four population projections shown in the Census Bureau's projections.

We can have a Pathway to Citizenship and we can also bring in an average of 3 to 4 hundred thousand yearly permanent immigrants and still shoot for keeping our population from never going over half a billion. Remember, the questions to ask the proponents of mass immigration are 1) How many permanent American residents will their proposals lead to and 2) Can the proponents of mass immigration guarantee that there will be enough resources available to Americans to provide all of the people in the United States with at least a middle class quality of life.

The immigration bill is irresponsible in that it would lead to an unacceptable increase of the population of the USA. Most Americans intuitively realize that a billion people is way too many people for the United States. It's time to scrap the immigration bill and to start a new one that includes a Pathway to Citizenship along with provisions that will give American citizens firm control of their borders along with enforceable and strong punishments for employers who illegally hire unauthorized workers in the future (let's not punish the unauthorized workers anymore - their lives are tough enough).

Contact your Senators, your Congressperson and the President and tell them that it's time to rewrite the immigration bill so that it doesn't put the environmental and economic sustainability of the United States at risk.
